The LUSH Life: Part 1

Hey there dolls! I went to LUSH’s fabulous Holiday Preview event last week and came home with enough goodies to last 10 lifetimes. I loooove LUSH so it was a special treat to go to the Hudson Hotel and see what they had in store for the hols (can you believe it’s that time of the year already? OK, well it’s tiptoeing around the corner at any rate).

The theme of this year’s new arrivals was Supernatural. Think of witch cauldrons, spices, everything naughty and nice. And here are some of my fave Bubble Bars (bath bombs that you can carelessly toss into your tub and watch them froth over):

From top left, the Candy Cane Bubble Bar, the messy Christmas Morning Bubble Bar that will leave your tub looking like a ticker tape parade, the Marzibain Bubble Bar (for lovers of Marzipan), and the Witches’ Ball Bubble Bar that’s spicy with studded anise all over it.

Sephora 10th Anniversary Limited Edition Faves!

(left to right: Bare Escentuals  Mineral Veil, Bulgari Sephora Coffret, Philosophy Collection, Two Faced “The Quickie Chronicles” Mini Collection)

Some birthdays are best to be forgotten (hello, John McCain’s?). But Sephora’s 10th anniversary is a landmark. To commemorate this sacred occasion, the makeup mavens have put together a list of 10th anniversary limited edition specials — so gorge that we’re drooling like kids in a FAO Schwartz store here.

Check out some of the trophies:

Mineral Veil On-The-Go Brush by Bare Escentuals ($28) – A two-time “Best of Sephora” winner, Mineral Veil is every makeup bag’s MVP (most valuable product) but now you can use it any where, any time with this limited edition portable applicator brush.

10 Year Cookbook by Philosophy ($40) – Philosophy cherry picked their best sellers and Sephora faves for this special occasion. The result? A shower orgy! With ten 2 oz. bottles of Philosophy’s famous recipe inspired formulas, the 10 Year Cookbook contains flavors like strawberry milkshake, red velvet cake and melon daiquiri. Mmmm…..

Two Faced The Quickie Chronicles Mini Collection ($121 Value), $59.10: A set of eight pocket-sized palettes for eyes, cheeks, and lips. The set includes the following  eight beauty book palettes: The Temptress, The Plaything of Passion, The Cupcake, The Starlette, 10 Year Anniversary, The Sure Thing, The Beach Bunny, and The Summer Lover.

Bulgari Ladies’ Miniature Perfume Collection, $65: A Sephora exclusive, this 10th Anniversary coffret hosts five beautiful fragrances. Voile de Jasmine Eau de Toilette, Pour Femme Eau de Parfum, Rose Essentielle Eau de Parfum, Omnia Crystalline Eau de Toilette, and Omnia Amethyste.

Bliss Triple Oxygen Mask: A Jolt of Joes for Your Face

If you want more fun than you’ve had going out with your gal pals to a nightclub and dancing to ‘80s music, you should try Bliss Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask.

The mask is a clear gel, and once you spread it all over your damp skin, the mask is activated. Bubbles of oxygen froth all over your face like a delicate veil. Your skin genuinely feels enthralled, as though it is at a Bon Jovi concert.

You have to leave it on for five minutes, and by the time the clock has finished ticking the froth has virtually disappeared. Why oxygenate your skin? The oxygen levels that reach down to the facial tissues through natural blood micro-circulation can plummet by up to 70% by the age of thirty.

We’re not saying that it’s time for your skin to call the coffin maker, but a little oxygen and sunscreen can really help bring that joie de vivre to your skin and that fresh, rosy glow that’s reserved only for screen sirens wearing a lot of blush or Gretchen, the farmer’s daughter in Germany.

Oxygen is also great for acne, so use this mask thrice weekly to banish those zits forever faster than a magic potion or ancient spell. $52 at

Total Beauty Total Cure Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign

Every three minutes, a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer. This staggering statistic resonated deeply with the members of the Total Beauty blog community, many of whom have been personally touched by the disease.

So in the spirit of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Total Beauty blog community is hosting a month-long initiative that integrates breast cancer awareness, fundraising to benefit the Breast Cancer Research Fund (BCRF) and beauty giveaways to engage women in the quest for the cure.

“Total Beauty – Total Cure” is dedicated to increasing awareness about the importance of prevention and early detection, and arming women with the knowledge they need to take control of their health, bringing us one step closer to a world without breast cancer. Breast cancer information, screening guidelines, and links to available resources will be integrated throughout the campaign. And each participating blogger has pledged to raise funds for BCRF.

Each day, all month long, you can enter here for the day’s new giveaway, hosted on one of TB’s blog community sites.

Giveaway sponsors include Anastasia Beverly Hills, Benefit, Cargo, Clarisonic, Jurlique, L’Oreal Paris, NARS, Stila and Tarte. This unique collaboration of beauty bloggers, beauty brands and Total Beauty is one to show a united voice of strength and hope that, someday soon, we will close in on a cure to breast cancer.
